Signatures Author Series Continues Tradition Of Signed Chair To Benefit
Local Non-Profits

World-renowned chef, author and Food Network star Tyler Florence will be the featured speaker at the 10th Annual John Cooper School Signatures Author Series luncheon to be held on Friday, November 7 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. As is an annual tradition at the Signatures luncheon, guests will have the opportunity to help raise funds for local non-profit organizations. At the 2014 luncheon, Florence will help support The Montgomery County Food Bank and The Friendship Center-Meals on Wheels by signing a chair for a silent auction.

Signed Chair to benefit local non-profitsThis year's unique signed chair will be a McGuire Prescott Arm Chair designed by Orlando Ortez that has been generously donated by CAH Interiors, based out of The Woodlands and owned by Cynthia A. Higgins, a Texas licensed interior designer and member of The American Society of Interior Designers. "We are very grateful to CAH Interiors for again making a generous donation to our silent auction that helps us provide the opportunity to support local non-profits," said Signatures Committee member Herminia Sitter. The chair, valued at $2,400, is designed with a custom upholstered seat and a custom lumbar pillow in metallic linen with satin stitched embroidery design.

The 2014 Signatures beneficiaries are both longstanding organizations in the community. The motto of the Friendship Center's Meals on Wheels program is "so no senior goes hungry." The program serves over 500 seniors countywide and provides them with home deliveries of nutritious, hot and frozen meals. Homebound seniors also receive an often much-needed visit by a caring volunteer.

The Montgomery County Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 7 million pounds of food each year to low-income children, adults and seniors living in Montgomery County. Currently the Food Bank serves an average of 40,000 individuals each month. For each $1 donated, 3.5 nutritious meals are given to those in need and transferred to approximately 50 non-profit agencies in Montgomery County.

The Signatures Author Series is celebrating ten years of bringing interesting and well-known authors to the greater Houston community as well as providing a venue for visiting authors. "The continued success of this event is made possible by sponsorships at varying levels - from individual seats for $100 apiece, to table sponsorships from $1,500 to $5,000 levels," said 2014 Signatures Chairperson Wendy Hammarstrom. "Higher level sponsorships will attend a VIP reception with the author and be seated closer to some very exciting things scheduled for our event with Tyler Florence. We have had sell-out audiences these past few years, so we encourage people to reserve seats early." Reservations can be made online at specialevents.johncooper.org.
